Why the title, Ask Dr. David NOW?

Because all too often we put things off. We procrastinate. Its especially difficult to face tough, frightening emotional issues that we think are best left buried.

Of course, the opposite is true. The sooner we face and resolve emotional issues/trauma, the sooner we unload the emotional baggage. Get rid of it! Why suffer any longer?

What does Dr. David have to offer?

A commitment to Results! He wants you to be set free of your emotional issues just as quickly as possible. He is results oriented and dedicated to your success.

A belief in Balance! Have you noticed that urban life is even more frenzied today? Too many of us are on an unending treadmill and we cant jump off. Each day we need to discipline ourselves to make time for God (spiritual endeavors), ourselves (healthy selfishness), our friends and family (absolutely essential), work (hopefully fulfilling), play (non-negotiable necessity), sleep (we probably dont get enough of it) and love (the greatest power of all).

A devotion to Excellence! This means evolving and changing. It means constantly updating ourselves and our skills. We dont use the same treatment methods now that we used 32 years ago when we were starting our practice.

A dedication to genuine Caring! Positive results, real change, and success in psychotherapy depend upon the development of a solid therapeutic relationship. Without trust, compassion, understanding, and genuine caring, no real progress is made.

A passion for Wholistic Health! Too many of us live in our heads. We are cut off from our bodies where we feel feelings and from our spirits where we connect with our deepest longings and our true selves. Meditation and prayer equip us to be Whole by integrating ourselves as mind, body and spirit.

What makes Dr. Davids Therapy Different?

In addition to the items already mentioned, I believe in thorough and accurate diagnosis/assessment at the beginning of therapy and continuous updating of the diagnoses made. I use the brief psychometric scales developed by Dr. David Burns for between session testing of depression, anxiety and relationships with significant others and with myself (the therapist). Regularly obtaining empirical/objective feedback provides a solid basis for making appropriate clinical decisions. It takes the guesswork out of therapy!
